DELISLE Iron Flower
Acclaimed cult- favorite Grey DeLisle makes exquisitely personal records that
conjure worlds unto themselves. With Iron Flowers, DeLisle ingests the roots of
modern popular music and elegantly encapsulates them into an original whole. It's
an ambitiously modern record that lands - for comparison's sake only (meaning
that it's NOT meant to emulate ANYthing) - somewhere between the female-empowered
country- rock of Neko Case and the avant- stomp-blues of Tom Waits. Its scope
suggests heartfelt nods to classic American songwriting and an awareness of the
indie rock canon. Produced by Marvin Etzioni, Iron Flowers features the musical
talents of Dave Mattacks, Don Heffington, Sheldon Gomberg, Greg Leisz, and Murray
Hammond. (Sugar Hill) Bonus Disc Tracks: Bohemian Rhapsody/ Joanna/ Blue Heart
(non-album mono mix)/ I'm On Fire (Bruce Springsteen cover) (Sugar Hill) More

DELISLE The Graceful Ghost
Grey DeLisle's
debut for Sugar Hill Records is an enchanting, haunting collection of uncluttered,
even austere acoustic arrangements. Never one to shy away from a wretched tale
of deceit, lost love, or human tragedy, DeLisle further defines herself as a risk-taker,
taking on many characters in her wildly imagined historical scenarios. Her voice
resonates with echoes of vintage country heroines like the Carter Family and Dolly
Parton, but the homage and references to historic Americana is ... More

DELISLE Homewrecker
Southern California
country songtress Grey De Lisle delivers a vibrant sophomore disc with Homewrecker.
As on her impressive debut Small Time, De Lisle showcases an alluring singing
voice. "Beautiful Mistake" beautifully recaptures the classic country
sound of Patsy Cline-era Nashville, while the melancholic "Borrowed &
Blue" wonderfully blends De Lisle's sorrowful ballad singing with a contemporary
sheen. She also demonstrates her versatility by turning out tunes... More

DELISLE Samll Time
Grey Delisle
knows how to pull the heartache out of a song. Her debut disc is packed with stripped
down but emotionally stirring country music that is fused with a touch of the
blues. Her backing band, which includes Jake LaBotz and Marvin Etzioni (who also
served as producer), gives her able support. Small Time suggests that Delisle
will be making the big time soon. ... More

Leaving
the June Carter Cash/ Jolie Holland sonic template of her last album behind, Grey
DeLisle has returned with a stylistically varied effort evoking everyone from
Cat Power to Stephen Foster (she actually won a Grammy for her contribution to
last years BEAUTIFUL DREAMER tribute album)
to Willie Nelson to Tom Waits to Bright Eyes. Joanna, the second track
features castanets, leaving the listener with a Phil Spector/ Wall of Sound pleasant
aftertaste. Blue Heart was recorded live with producer Marvin Etzionis
teenaged sons garage band in one take. Right Now features Marc
Bolan-esque ray-gun guitar splashes. Combine all of that with dirty rockabilly
(Who Made You King), a Rev. Charlie Jackson cover (Gods
Got It) and the opening tracka reworking of Queens Bohemian
Rhapsody (yes, you read that right)to arrive at Greys distinctive
take on Americana
edgy, dynamic, graceful, and eclectic.
