Fayssoux
McLean was best known in music circles for providing harmonies on the first four
Emmylou Harris solo albums. Journalist and musician Peter Cooper coaxed Fayssoux
from retirement resulting in this sublime country album. McLean and Cooper combined
her originals, traditional songs her grandma used to sing, and classics from well
respected songwriters. Cooper, Lloyd Green, and Brandon Turner provide a gentle,
aching country backing. Several old friends and admirers contribute, including
former boss Harris but never overshadow the true star in this production, Fayssoux

John
Nelson delivers each song with a calm, almost moist vocal that draws a little
from Paul Simon, an accent-less Graham Nash, and a gentle Neil Young. His voice
is elegantly calming as it and the harmonies melt into the disciplined guitar
picking and tender band. It all feels so effortless, as it it floats out of Nelson
and his band. Tengo Ranchito, Nelson's 2007 release succeeds in gently, beautifully

1968 debut, originally released on A&M, from one of the first and finest L.A.
country-rock outfits. Comprised of Gene Clark, hot on the heels of his departure
from the Byrds and his debut solo release (with the Gosdin Bros.), and Doug Dillard,
the virtuosic banjoist/guitarist of the Dillards. Gene Clark is perhaps the most
underrated songwriter of the 1960s and this could very well be his finest post-Byrds
moment. Featuring help from fellow Byrd Chris Hillman, future Burrito Brother
"Sneaky" Pete Kleinow, and future Burrito/Eagle Bernie Leadon, this
is an absolutely essential piece of L.A. country-rock history, not to mention

The
all-new soundtrack album from Harmony Korine's film Mister Lonely featuring Jason
Spaceman (Spiritualized/Spacemen 3) and The Sun City Girls. The soundtrack is
deceptively minimal -- a guitar or piano line that blinks past repetition and
blushes into something grander; a motif reappearing under new auspices; link pieces
that become spotlight moments, densely worked-out, stars in their own right. Working
independently and never collaborating, Jason Spaceman and Sun City Girls employ

A
never before compiled set of Rufus Thomas's early recordings from the 50's before
he reached extreme popularity in the 60's. Several of these tracks are CD first-timers.
Known in his latter years as "The World's Oldest Teenager," from the
1930s until his death in December 2001, Rufus Thomas was one of Memphis' best
loved entertainers. A tap dancer, comic, blues, soul and funk singer, he enjoyed
without a doubt the most diversified career of any Memphis musician. The tracks

double-disc features a brand new album from Philadelphia guitarist Jack Rose along
with his highly acclaimed and out-of-print self-titled record (originally a limited
release on the Archive Recordings label). On Dr. Ragtime & Pals, Rose duets
with Glenn Jones, Micah Smaldone, Mike Gangloff, Harmonica Dan, and Sean Bowles.
This is a major work from a big player in the modern American Primitive world,

Firmly
established as one of the rarest records of its time, and never reissued until
now, Mary-Anne Paterson's sole album is a beautiful combination of traditional
and original material whose echoing production perfectly captures her haunting
voice. This first-ever reissue of Me is sure to appeal to all folk lovers, and
deserves to elevate Mary-Anne to where she belongs - alongside Anne Briggs and
Vashti Bunyan in the pantheon of Britain's leading folk singers. (Sunbeam) 
In
this 71 minute CD, rare recordings of a young Rory Block and Stefan Grossman are
featured. As well, the original landmark 1964 Elektra release of their "How
To Play Blues Guitar" (plus out-takes) is presented. This is an enhanced
CD and features a PDF file of tab/music for all the tunes from "How To Play
Blues Guitar". After these tracks were recorded Rory went on to record solo
albums and be the Winner of five WC Handy Blues Music Awards. Stefan went on to
record solo albums as well as the highly acclaimed duet albums with John Renbourn.
He has also authored countless guitar books on the Country Blues. 
Recorded
simultaneously with their classic Amaryllis album in the summer of 1970, this
psychedelic folk landmark showcases the talents of David McNiven and Angie Rew,
with one spellbinding track from former bandmate Carolyn Davis. Sympathetically

Henry
Roeland "Professor Longhair" Byrd is one of the handful of New Orleans
music legends above all others, ranked with the likes of Louis Armstrong, Fats
Domino, and Mahalia Jackson. Like Jelly Roll Morton, Sidney Bechet, and others,
his greatness did not necessarily translate to hit records and sold-out performances.
But, along with Roy Brown and Fats Domino, his spirit helped kick off the reawakening
of New Orleans music after World War II, inspiring a host of local admirers, notably
Huey Smith, James Booker, Allen Toussaint, Earl King, Dr. John, the Meters, and

Helgerson (vocals/drums), Jesse Emerson (bass) and Scott Weddle (guitar/vocals),
collectively known as Amelia, create a beautifully wrenching album with A long,
lovely list of repairs. The pained singing fits nicely with the rustic melodies.
There are elements of country, blues, and folk in this album but more than anything
that tracks are stripped down musically to highlight the signing and the message
being sung. This is a very album filled with moving, mid-tempo melodies that remind
the listener that even in the dimmest of situations there is hope and that part
of being healed isn't looking towards what recovery will be like but the process

Brown's live shows were always a musical roller coaster, seamlessly bouncing from
song to song and instrument to instrument with his irrepressible banter. From
the award-winning PBS "Austin City Limits" TV series, this performance,
recorded live on February 6, 1996 and mixed in 5.1 surround sound, includes songs
that were never aired on the original TV broadcast. It captures the essence of
Gatemouth's legendary sound.
This
performance shows Roy in his prime at the age of 37. Indeed it may well be the
best high-quality audio/video recording of his complete performance known to exist.
From the award-winning PBS "Austin City Limits" TV series, this performance,
recorded live on November 15, 1976, includes songs that were never aired on the
original TV broadcast. This treasure celebrates a brilliant guitarist at the peak
of his talents, and is a chance for a new generation to discover what they might
have missed.
Albert
was on fire the night of this taping in 1991. He was first and foremost an entertainer,
but nonetheless belongs up front in the pantheon of great blues guitarists. From
the award-winning PBS "Austin City Limits" TV series, this performance,

is an audio/video chronicle of the first ever RCPM VivaCast; a revolutionary reality-recording
experiment where the band and crew set up a studio in a seaside home in Rocky
Point, Mexico and broadcasting daily audio and video episodes to thousands of
homes. The goal was to create and share, from inspiration to the final mix, 8
songs in 8 days. Also on this album is Maana, a fun little ditty that the fans
asked the band to include as well as Mxicosis and Captain Suburbia which are available
for the first time on a cd.
