Celebrating
10 years of recording, John Howie's resonant, longing vocals continue serving
as the group's centerpiece. Scott McCall's lead guitar is classic country, whether
it is a shuffle or country-politan twang he is picking out of his telecaster.
The Two Dollar Pistols were at the vanguard of the alt.country "scene"
in North Carolina with Whiskeytown, 6 String Drag and The Backsliders. Dismiss
the alt. part and call them amongst the best country bands. This collection, produced
by Rick Miller (Southern Culture) features guest spots by Mary Huff, Tonya Lamm,
and Lynn Blakey but the heart of this release is the Two Dollar Pistols soulful

Between
Daylight And Dark is Gauthier's fifth album and the follow up to her 2005 breakthrough
Mercy Now, which garnered high praise in the media. Gauthier was named 2005 New/Emerging
Art of the year by the Americana Music Association. Gauthier's continuing evolution
as a songwriter is evident throughout the 10 songs that comprise Between Daylight
And Dark. The album cut live, with minimal overdubs, and produced by Joe Henry.
The album features guest appearances by Van Dyke Parks (piano on "Can't Find
The Way") and Loudon Wainwright (backing vocals on "Soft Place To Land"
and "I Ain't Leaving"). Prodeuced by Joe Henry. Guests include Van Dyke

The
Bluegrass Diaries picks up where 2006s Grammy nominated last bluegrass album Bluegrass
left off allowing Lauderdale to indulge in his passion for intricate picking and
foot stompin' with his friends. The album includes Jesse Cobb on Mandolin, Richard
Bailey on Banjo, Jay Weaver on bass, Cody Kilby on guitar and Aaron Till on fiddle
as well as many other special guests. On The Bluegrass Diaries Lauderdale blends
bluegrass chops with his signature turn of phrase. At root, the album is a metaphor
for Lauderdale's entire career; switchblade-sharp, honest and starkly American.

"The
Green Pajamas, mining childhood nostalgia on their new album... Box Of Secrets
is a conceptual album, a follow up if you will to 'Northern Gothic' (Camera Obscura,
2002), with three intertwining themes running through it: local legends, characters,
and personal mythology. Inspired less by arcane literature and more by The Green
Pajamas three songwriters' own childhood experiences: 70's TV movies dealing with
gothic themes of murder, secrets, the supernatural; along with small town life
in the Pacific Northwest, the vague setting for many of the songs is the Washington
coast. The mostly fictional stories enclosed within this 'Box of Secrets' evoke
a shared memory or that spooky sweet nostalgia, whether lived or not. Though the
subject matter is dark, the music and songs themselves promise to be a bit more
rocking and psychedelic, moreso than their last true studio album '21st Century

Tom
Gillam's Never Look Back is the follow-up to the 2005 AMA Nominated Shake My Hand.
A lot has happened in between, including Tom's flirting with death. In March 2006,
Tom suffered 3 heart attacks. Within 6 weeks, Tom was back out on the road, leading
his band, Tractor Pull. The new record features well crafted pop songs with a
country rock flavor. Blending the edgier side of Americana/Alt. Country with 70s
style guitar rock. Songs like "Another Break-Up Song," "Where is

The
First new release in 10 years from Anti-Folk co-founder Beloved Stranger could
be called her most political album; its foot-stomping "When Did Jesus Become
a Republican" certainly qualifies it as political, if not partisan CD. But
there are aspects to the album which are also both personal and universal. "Forty
Cent Raise"is about trying to support a family with a low paying job. Joining
her on the song is John Doe, who makes several guest appearances on the album
along with Lenny Kaye, Dave Alvin and Peter Case. (Populuxe Records)
Produced
by John Alagia (John Mayer, Dave Matthews Band, Ben Folds), Ripe represents a
new pinnacle for Lee, whether it's the on the album's first single, "Love
Me Like The World Is Ending," the piano-led march against apathy that is
"Numb," the joyously charming tribute to "American Television"
(replete with exultant "woo-hoo-hoo"s on the chorus) or the catchy duet
with Mandy Moore, "Birds and Bees," inspired by the Grease classic "Summer
Lovin'." Ripe also benefits from guest appearances by members of pop band
Rooney on "American Television," "Birds And Bees," and "Is
This How Love's Supposed To Feel?" and Benji Madden of Good Charlotte on
"Sex Without Love". Both bands have long been "good mates"

Some
things are just meant to be. Birds were born to fly, politicians were born to
lie, and Carolyn Mark was born to make music. Ever since she first took the stage
as Templeton the rat in her elementary school's musical version of Charlotte's
Web, show business has been the main driving force in Mark's life. After coming
to the obvious conclusion that musicians were much more fun to hang around with
than actors, she formed her first band, all-girl surf-twang popsters The Vinaigrettes.
It was the beginning of a love affair with music, musicians, and the road that
that has lasted over fifteen years. Nothing Is Free, described by Mark as her
"woodsy, introspective album," was recorded by Myke Hall at Beaver Point
Hall in British Columbia. Along for the ride were guitar and bass virtuoso Paul
Pigat (Cousin Harley), guitar and mandolin heavyweight Paul Rigby (Neko Case),
expert vocalist Emilie Rhone (Fishing Derby, Antler), and vivacious violinist
and vocalist Diona Davies (Po' Girl, Geoff Berner, ESL). Additional help was ably
rendered by Allison Russell and Awna Teixeira of Po' Girl, and the mythical Calvin

Rock legend Richie Furay returned to secular music after a 30 year hiatus. Joining
Furay on `Hearbeat of Love` are former band mates, Neil Young, and Stephen Stills,
Rusty Young, Paul Cotton, Timothy B. Schmidt, Kenny Loggins, and Mark Volman.
Chet Flippo said on cmt.com, "It`s a return and a reprise but not at all
a repeat of what Furay was doing with his genre-bending bands years ago. For country-rock
aficionados, it`s like a shot in the arm." This first pressing comes in deluxe

Matthew "Banger" Grimm, principal songwriter of New York`s Hangdogs,
offers an unflinching look under the plastic coated complacency shield of America`s
political coverall. Tart, biting, with kid gloves left in the bin, Grimm describes
his new material as art that "punches you in the throat." He doesn`t
mince words and he doesn`t excuse the "blue" language, because that`s
the way he talks. But when he sings lines like "Before the meek claim our
inheritance you`d better `Kill The Poor`", you clearly sense the sharp irony
imbued in his anti-holy war ode. And with his now familiar nasal-y twang, he vents
a roots-punk protest record of entertaining weight; the heady stuff you would
expect from a graduate of political science and journalism. And, no doubt, from
a bar room demonstrator such as he. Grimm now resides in Iowa City, where he can
blatantly exorcise -- with crunchy guitar in hand - his First Amendment rights
with the help of band members Jason Berge, Matt Winegardner and Eric Straumanis.

Henry Wallace, vice president to FDR, ran on the 3rd party Progressive ticket
in 1948, crusading for the common man. Matthew Grimm finds some natural kinship
with the fellow expatriate Iowan as he and the Dogs bust and blast through 13
tracks, beer-steeped, pissed off and fun as ever. They lament an apathetic and
misinformed young America, and skewer everyone from work-a-day corporate drones
to `new-country` music starlets - challenging these lip-glossed lightweights over
a loping country shuffle, "If you`re so country, then Drink Yourself To Death".
Along with cutting insights and kick-ass alt-country, they`ve got some beautiful
balladry here too, wringing new emotion from a cover of "Midnight Train To
Georgia" and the heartbreaker "She`s Leaving You". The guys again
prove they`re as smart as they are drunk, as melodic as they are malicious. (Crazyhead)
The 2006 release from West Virginia`s Rust Kings emphasizes the band`s acoustic
playing and three-part harmonies. Jeanne Hoffman, who joined the band in 2003,
added a soft counter balance to Allen Sizemore`s hearty vocals. The band`s move
to a mountain sound, dropping the drums and `roots-rock` of their last release,
suits this lineup of music veterans. Recorded in a living room, around a couple
of mics, playing off of each other`s energy with limited overdubs, Hotel West
Virginia captures the feeling of a warm summer night out on the porch, picking

Bitchin'
is the aural thunderclap that is The Donnas' record, an unapologetically anthemic
hard rock album. Their luscious locks must have been a fourway blur of headbanging
fury at this recording session. Thirty shout-along, swaggering rockers were slimmed
down to an album-length fourteen tunes, all written or co-written by The Donnas'
and co-produced by Jay Ruston (The Polyphonic Spree, Meat Loaf). (Purple Feather)

of musical talent, but also helped establish Cash as a true artist, humanitarian,

to pay tribute to the late Jim Capaldi of Traffic and to raise money for his children's
charity The Landmark Trust. Old friends and younger admirers such as Yusuf Islam
(a.k.a. Cat Stevens), Pete Townshend, Joe Walsh, Jon Lord, Gary Moore, Dennis
