Five years since his last release, Tim Carroll is still one of the hottest roots
rock guitar players around. Carroll's keeps his music unadorned, filling his songs
with a wink and a grin, while delivering sing-along choruses in a joyful nasally
twang. Carroll steeps his songs in country, rock, roadhouse blues, and more rock,
making is all feel effortless, natural and alive. Carroll, as he has done for

Kevin
Deal is foot-stomping Texas country. Whether it is a statement of his life philosophy
on the album's title track, or a paean to getting in the car and hitting the highway,
Kevin is clearly having a great time and you should too! This record is beer,
friends, the shining sun, and mostly, fun. The Lloyd Maines production puts Kevin's
party-friendly songs in the sweet spot. If you aren't singing along by the album's
third track (Texas and Beer) you have no pulse. In a musical era of introspective
singer-songwriters, Deal is glad to cheer you up with this terrific ode to having

Bill Kelly delivers his tales of messed-up love and redemption with whimsy. He
sets the tone for the record with the gorgeous opening track "Daddy Wouldn't
Know." Over the record Kelly, who at times is reminiscent of Jackson Browne,
Tim Easton, and Loudon Wainwright III, charms the listener with gentle melodies
and thoughtful imagery. Bread On The Waters, impeccably produced by Lincoln Schleifer,

Recorded
in the Deadstring Brothers' own recording studio, Silver Mountain boasts the tunesmanship
of The Faces and the barroom howl of The Band stewed together in homage to the
blues of the American South and dancehalls of the urban factory North. Music like
this formed the genesis of album-oriented FM rock - this record showcases high
energy bluesy rave-ups and hymnal country ballads. Silver Mountain is a coming
out party for sultry singer Masha Marjieh. Gritty and seductive, reminiscent of
sixties-era Tina Turner, Masha steps into the spotlight on 8 of the 11 tracks,
showcasing her hot-blooded and lustful voice, leaving no doubt that the biggest

dark Byrdsy, Americana vibe of Robert Hazard's Troubadour may come as a surprise
to those who know him as the hit songwriter of 'Girls Just Wanna Have Fun. This
is first rate roots-folk songwriting and musicianship. Iinsightful songwriting

Draw

varieties of cicada emerge from dormancy only once a decade or so, and that's
how long it took this band to actually form, for singer-songwriter Rodney Crowell

late, great Hoyt Axton remains a country, pop and folk music icon, and Raven presents
for the first time on one indispensable CD two of his finest ever albums: Less
Than The Song (1973) and Life Machine (1974). Best known as a hit songwriter ('Joy
to the World', 'The Pusher', 'No No Song', 'Never Been to Spain' etc), Axton signed
to A&M Records in 1972 for a string of high quality albums. Less Than The

The

Immortalized
in Rickie Lee Jones's 1979 hit, "Chuck E.'s In Love", Weiss' career
as a singer/songwriter has included playing the drums and singing in a craggy
blues voice that recalls the Chicago and New Orleans styles of music he holds
close to his heart. Weiss enjoys an underground career amongst lovers of blues,
rock, and zydeco. The first of a long list of his recordings was released on Select
in 1981. This disc, containing cuts from that release, paints an early and endearing
picture of a young Chuck E. that's immediately likeable, unpretentious, and organic.
Accompanied by Dr. John, Rickie Lee Jones, and others, it's an interesting snapshot
of an earlier time in the life of the irrepressible romantic scallywag that is

Tom
Gillams Never Look Back is the follow-up to the 2005 AMA Nominated Shake My Hand.
A lot has happened in between, including Toms flirting with death. In March 2006,
Tom suffered 3 heart attacks. Within 6 weeks, Tom was back out on the road, leading
his band, Tractor Pull. The new record features well crafted pop songs with a
country rock flavor. Blending the edgier side of Americana/Alt. Country with 70s
style guitar rock. Songs like "Another Break-Up Song," "Where is
Bobby Gentry,"and "Never Look Back" lead the way. (Treehouse) 
New York-based chanteuse Liz Tormes, on her stunning debut, presents a downbeat
mix of Gothic Americana - beautiful, yet slightly dark. There are a few solid
roots pop tunes to swing the mood upward on this mostly mid-tempo collection of
acoustic based songs. Yet a prevailing melancholy in her voice threads Limelight
with magnetic warmth and honest appeal. The Village Voice says, "Nashville-transplant
Tormes plays a rich, reverb-soaked guitar-based garage rock, and comes across

Between
Daylight And Dark is Gauthiers fifth album and the follow up to her 2005 breakthrough
Mercy Now, which garnered high praise in the media. Gauthier was named 2005 New/Emerging
Art of the year by the Americana Music Association. Gauthiers continuing evolution
as a songwriter is evident throughout the 10 songs that comprise Between Daylight
And Dark. The album cut live, with minimal overdubs, and produced by Joe Henry.

Like
a modern day Chet Baker, Jens loves to sing about heartache. This is his first
album in over three years, and Kortedala refers to a neighborhood in his hometown
of Gothenburg, Sweden - "a depressing suburban hell". It also refers
to a vague musical pop sound with hints of tropicalia that has been coming out
of Gothenburg's clubs the last few years. "Night Falls Over Kortedala"
features many previously unreleased live favorites and guest vocals from label-mate

"Parallel Suns", Lubelski has flown to a higher orbit with her merger

was captured live on videotape for the first time at the Montreal Jazz Festival
