Jason
Eady's smooth twang, expertly supported by his band The Wayward Apostles, effortlessly
flows across "tears in your beer" songs, hard country, and introspective
folk. Name any style that falls under the big umbrella of Americana and Eady expertly
handles the vocals. While many out there can take on the technical task of singing,
Eady is an artist at work. Call him a young Steve Earle, or compare him to Ray
Wylie Hubbard. Pick your favorite Texas singer-songwriter. Someday, possibly,
Eady's name could be among them. Wild Eyed Sernade's 12 tracks are all gems. --

From
Underneath the Old announces a gifted, young songwriter. From Ft. Worth by way
of Mississippi, Eady layers his smooth vocals over elements of acoustic country,
folk, and gospel. Later records reveal a robust Eady when he is backed by a band.
His debut album is elegant and subdued. Producers Walt Wilkins and Tim Lorsch
keep Eady reigned in, focusing on his outstanding voice and the essence of the

For
an artist like Dale Watson, his home is where he hangs his hat (or where he puts
his boots). When you're travelling the world for the best part of the year, it
is good to have some certainties in life, places where your hat and boots know
they're always welcome; Ginny's Little Longhorn or The Broken Spoke in his beloved
Austin, TX, will easily be recognized as such by most of his fans. But be it in
close competition with the Cafe Sports in Delft, Club Newland in Klaaswaal (NL)
is no doubt one of those places that feel like home away from home, when Dale
and his Lone Stars are on yet another European tour. Here is a highly entertaining
90-minute set of mostly Dale Watson .You can leave your hat on while enjoying
Dale and his Lone Stars at home. (Rounder Europe)
For
over 20 years the Paladins have been a leading force in rock, blues, rockabilly
or even better: good music. Their versatile approach to the songs they play and
the quality of their album releases have assured a large following on both sides
of the Atlantic. This concert, recorded at Nijmegen's Kids 'n' Billies Festival,
brings you the original line-up at its best. Bryan Fahey, Thomas Yearsley and
Dave Gonzalez had a ball that day at the open air stage and it shows. After a
two weeks' tour of Holland, Belgium and Germany; the Paladins were tight. (Rounder

The
Cake Sale is a band featuring a loose and expansive collective of musicians and
writers who have combined to create a 9-song CD of the same name. All profits
from the album go to support Oxfam's Make Trade Fair campaign and their overseas
program work. Recorded in Dublin last year, the bones of The Cake Sale's tracks
were laid down by Bell X1 duo Crosby and Paul Noonan along with Crowded House
bassist Nick Seymour and drummer Graham Hopkins. All songs were previously unreleased
and recorded specifically for The Cake Sale project with all publishing royalties
being donated by their writers. Lead vocals were provided from Snow Patrol's Gary
Lightbody, Glen Hansard (The Frames / Once the film), Nina Persson (The Cardigans),
Gemma Hayes, and Josh Ritter among others. The song "All The Way Down"
written by Glen Hansard and subsequently appearing on the soundtrack of indie
movie hit Once, now features vocals by Gemma Hayes. (Yep Roc) 
2007
compilation from the ground-breaking singer/songwriter who helped create the Country
Rock sound as well as had a hand in the Laurel Canyon Soft Rock scene as well.
Co-writing Eagles hit singles and forming Souther Hillman Furay with former members
of The Byrds and Poco may have put his name in lights, but his oft-overlooked
solo career is what is chiefly on display on this excellent collection. Track

The
nationwide release of 'Roughs' by former and founding member of the Los Angeles
rock band Sugarcult, now available on Velvet Crush and Matthew Sweet drummer Ric
Menck's Bird Song imprint. Ben's doing his very own laidback soft-rock thing,
with a dab of country & western, quite a departure from Sugarcult's highly-touted
tautness. Leaving behind a life of rock-nroll excess, this enigmatic album qualifies
both as emancipation and exorcism, a collection of intimate, personal songs about
love, longing,loathing and self-destruction. Likened to singer-songwriterly, orch-popping
artists like Ken Stringfellow and The Posies, Kevin Tihista’s
Red Terror,Pete Yorn and Velvet Crush. (Bird Song) 
Written
and directed by raconteur Tony Marsico, Camp Burlesque is a contemporary homage
to the classic burlesque films Marsico grew up watching in the backroom of his
father's pizza parlor. Conceived while on tour with Matthew Sweet, Camp Burlesqueâ
successfully incorporates Marsicoa's love of fantasy, roots oriented rock n roll,
and the female form into a delightfully sinful low budget romp that titillates
as much as it entertains. Marsico has underscored his film with many of his famous
friends and associates, some of whom number amongst the most popular artists in
the world today, including The Cruzados w/Bob Dylan, Matthew Sweet, The Velvet
Crush, Dave Alvin, John Doe, Peter Case, and many more! (Bird Song) 
Macon
Greyson's stereo-pulsing rock displayed on their fourth studio album, 20th Century
Accidents, showcases their activist lyrics while remaining devoted to their background
as a guitar rock band. Paralleling protest songs from the 1970s closely in both
sound and lyrical content, the critically-acclaimed group from Dallas is drumming
their brazen ballads all over the international spectrum. Influenced tremendously
by the satirical writings of Kurt Vonnegut, Macon Greyson now use their songs
as a like-minded platform for themes of unrest and demonstration. The anthems
on Accidents prevail as the perfect sound track to any opposition against the
powers that be, while still showcasing the group's talent for crafting catchy
melodies. (Fat Caddy Records) 
Devils
Game is a new collection; incorporating Stevie Tombstone's out of print Second
Hand Sin and Acoustica CDs alongside selected odds and sods. Tombstone first came
to prominence as a solo artist via the 2003 release 7:30 A.M. which received substantial
airplay in the US, Europe and Australia. The acoustic tracks of Sin (produced
by Jeff Johnson of Jason & the Scorchers) highlight Stevie's style of melding
country-blues and gospel with dark lyrical themes. The Acoustica tracks capture
this vibe in a rowdy live setting while the bonus tracks feature guest appearances
from members of the Georgia Satellites and Soul Asylum. The set is rounded out
by a stellar cover of "Folsom Prison Blues" and his new holiday classic
"Christmas On Red River".(Saustex Media)
Mighty
High is the eclectic compilation that includes remixed tracks from 2006's High
And Mighty. In addition to covers of Deep Purple's "I'm A Ram," the
Band's "The Shape I'm In" and Otis Redding's "Hard to Handle"

The
most affecting music comes straight from an artist's life, from the heart. For
P.J. Olsson, making his album American Scream was an experience reflecting his
life more than he ever had known was possible. "For me it's still sort of

site to upload and download files. I sang every song in my studio surrounded by

This
is the companion disc to this year's earlier release, East Of The Sun and features
the same band as before; drummer Barrett Martin produced the sessions, with Peter
Buck and Scott McCaughey (electric and acoustic guitars), Kevin Hudson (electric
and upright bass), and Dave Carter and Craig Flory (trumpet and saxophones, respectively).
This time, the spotlight is on the featured women vocalists: Adama, a British/Nigerian
soul singer from London; Gina Sala, vocalist with Cirque De Soleil; and Jessy
Greene, a former member of The Geraldine Fibbers. John Wesley Harding, Scott McCaughey,
and Coleman Barks each contribute a song or two. Tuatara is a classic American
band of songwriters, whose current flight was rerouted from Memphis to Marrakech.

Cox's third solo release she explores the compromises of domestic life. A mother
of three, Cox touches on both the demands of family and the isolation one can
feel despite standing amongst the throngs. Her voice, reminiscent of Shelby Lynne's
smokiness sans the hurt, along with her eye for life's subtleties are the centerpiece
of this beautifully melancholic album. Over ten tracks Cox captures a snapshot
of her life at this moment, offering a diary as much as a selection of songs.

The Trumpet Child, producer Brad Jones tapped the broken-bottle-strewn back alleyways
of Nashville for an arresting array of horn, woodwind and string players to festoon

Visceral
indie rock duo Deadboy & the Elephantmen began as a solo project for singer/guitar
player and ex-Agents of Oblivion /Acid Bath member Dax Riggs in 2000. He spent
several years playing with a rotating cast of local characters before taking it
solo. We Sing Only of Blood or Love is a raw and honest example of Dax`s sheer
